Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis, Ltd. – St. Louis, MO

Work was recently completed on the first High-Speed Balance Facility in the St. Louis area, for power generating equipment, at Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis (MD&A). The facility was designed to be the one of the most modern balance facilities for power turbines in the United States with the ability to balance both steam and gas turbines as well as generator fields.  The project team was lead by Tarlton Corporation and included critical team members Corrigan Company for the mechanical work and Schaeffer Electric Company for the electrical work.  Key portions of work for Schaeffer included variable frequency drives and power for 8000 hp and 3000 hp motors, building addition, new Ameren 14 MVA substation, 15KV customer switchgear, (5) 15KV transformers, cooling tower, (3) UPS systems, extensive process control, vacuum penetrations, along with general lighting and power.  Schaeffer could not be more pleased with the team atmosphere throughout this project promoted by Tarlton and MD&A.  It took a strong collective effort to complete the project in the timeline required and it was exciting to be a part of that effort.

MD&A Turbine-Generator Repair Facility Addition – Project Update

Site electric and building underground work is progressing at MD&A in South St. Louis.  With such a small footprint, significant coordination has taken place to allow all the trades to meet schedule.  Thank you to all the trades and the design team for recognizing the proximity issues and keeping themselves and their coworkers safe.

Schaeffer Electric has received notice to proceed on the installation of new spincell testing facility for Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis, LTD on Weber Road in south St. Louis County.  Together with Tarlton Corporation, Acme Constructors, Corrigan Mechanical Contractors, and several other subcontactors, we are excited to begin this industrial project and look forward to a successful project.
